Neuroplastician Credential FAQs
Who is considered a Neuroplastician?
A npn Neuroplastician® is a non-clinical practitioner who applies the latest advancements in neuroscience, with a particular focus on neuroplasticity, to facilitate meaningful, lasting changes in individuals, teams, and organizations. Unlike other approaches, Neuroplasticians focus on leveraging scientific methodologies to drive behavioral transformation, focusing on enhancing cognitive flexibility, emotional intelligence, interpersonal dynamics and developing holistic wellbeing. They guide clients through evidence-based processes of change, enabling them to achieve their personal and professional objectives by fostering neurological adaptability and resilience.
Neuroplasticians employ a multidisciplinary approach, incorporating insights from neuroscience, behavioral psychology, and leadership and organizational development to offer scientifically grounded strategies for improving decision-making, emotional regulation, team dynamics, and leadership skills. Through a rigorous and structured methodology, they empower clients to master the art of self-directed change, ensuring sustainable growth and well-being.
This approach reflects the scientific rigor and the broader scope that distinguishes a npn Neuroplastician® from other practitioners, aligning with the client’s vision and goals.
The npn Neuroplastician® (abbreviated to .npn) Credential aims to recognise and validate the expertise of practitioners, educators, coaches, therapists and consultants who specialize in applied neuroscience. ION provides a structured assessment based on prior qualifications, experience, and artefacts in the public domain. This document outlines the competency framework for attaining the Neuroplastician Credential.
Strategies for progression and Continuous Professional Development (CPD) requirements are designed to ensure that the designation remains both robust and accessible, encouraging continuous development and leadership within the field, and included so that candidates understand progression opportunities.
What is the difference between a neuroplastician and a neuroscientist?
A neuroscientist is an academic scientist who studies the nervous system, the brain, spinal cord, and neurons, to understand how they influence disease and behavior. A Neuroplastician® uses the knowledge from the science and brings it to life by applying specific tools to increase neuroplasticity from behavior change. Increased neuroplasticity has a significantly positive impact on desired behavior, emotional processing, cognitive power, memory, creativity, health, and well-being.
Who can get the npn Neuroplastician® Certificate?
Every Practitioner in Applied Neuroscience has a chance to get the Neuroplastician Certificate. The awarded title depends on previous training, expertise, and artifacts in the public domain.
What competencies are required?
Associate (basic)
- Competency Addressed: Functional knowledge of neuroplasticity and its impact on behavior.
- Example: A practitioner in L&D designs a training session that includes a simple explanation of how new skills are learned through neuroplasticity, using straightforward analogies to explain how the brain adapts with practice.
Professional (Intermediate)
- Competency Addressed: Broad understanding of neurotransmission and its influence on well-being and cognitive performance.
- Example: A coach integrates knowledge of neurotransmitters like dopamine and serotonin into their practice, helping clients understand how these chemicals influence motivation and emotional regulation, and designing exercises to enhance these processes.
Master (Advanced)
- Competency Addressed: Synthesis of neuroscientific knowledge into complex client scenarios.
- Example: A therapist uses an in-depth understanding of neuroplasticity and epigenetics to create a personalized therapeutic plan for a client. This plan incorporates elements and techniques adapted through the practitioners own understanding of and work with brain-based interventions.
